Letter from Headteacher

Dear parents and children,

As we now find ourselves into week 6 of closure, I hope this letter finds you all safe and well and remaining in good spirits. I just wanted to update you with information and reassure you all that although we are not able to meet face to face, we are not far away and we continue to think about you all.

Parents

In the first couple of weeks, work was sent home via the home learning packs. Since then, all staff have been uploading work for the children onto our website. This work covers all the subject areas and follows the Year Group Expectations for your child as set out by the National Curriculum.

The School Website

The website is the first port of call for you as parents and children to stay connected to us, to email us with any queries and especially to take advantage of all the home learning opportunities that the teachers have provided.

Over the period of closure, the office has continued to make any necessary contact with you either by phone or by Parent mail. But please be aware that you will NOT get a Parent mail about home learning unless we need to send you something urgently or something of particular significance. All home learning for the children and letters for parents is communicated via the website and it is updated regularly in this period of school closure.

Parents and Children

You must go into our Homepage first and from there you will be easily directed to Home Learning.

You need to check in each day to see if there is any new information or new learning.

Parents

We are doing everything possible to ensure that the children make progress during this time and have minimal gaps in their learning. Thank you very much for supporting your child with their home learning. We know this is challenging and especially challenging for families sharing technology to access learning but we ask that you continue to do your very best in this current situation. Try to find a system that works for your family.

The staff have worked incredibly hard to make the work as appealing and engaging whilst the children work at home. Please do take the time to read the tasks with your child and discuss them. This support will keep your child motivated to do their best. Try to remain positive and realistic also in how much the children can do in a day while they are not in a classroom environment. If one day is difficult for your child, take a break and try again the next day. Remember that we as adults also experience this as well and usually need others around us for motivation and support.

Our Catholic Life in School

We always come together in class prayer and in collective worship every week and although we have not been able to do that recently, I now can share this with you;

You can now check the website every week under Catholic Life of SMC for the newly added Ten Ten Assemblies and the new Sunday Liturgy for Families.

The children will recognise the Ten Ten work as we often share the Sunday Gospel powerpoint through their website assembly on Monday morning.

You can also check every Wednesday on your Home Learning Class page for your Wednesday Word. You will also find this under the Catholic life of SMC

Children

Well done to all of you who entered our ‘Heroes Walk Amongst Us’ Art Competition. You really did your best and made us smile.

You can all see the winning entries right from Nursery Class to Y6 under the Home Learning tab.

Children during your time at home, remember the joy of St Margaret Clitherow School and remember that you all make our school ‘The Dream School’ when you keep trying your best in all you do.

Remember all the things you do when we come together as a school family in prayer. We light the   candle and you hold your class candle and we pray for each other.

Now as a community, we continue to pray for each other during this challenging time.

We remember especially all those who are on their own and those far away from their loved ones.

Take care and God Bless,

Ms Rooney
